" To The Winds"

Dancing is an integral part of the native American Indians' culture. Pow wows are joyful celebrations filled with dancing, and where individual dancers compete for awards within their tribe and competing tribes. The dances are symbolic with every move handed down for generations, and all motions in a dance have a specific meaning.  The dancers will  pay tribute to the singers several times during each dance, and one of the tributes is to honor them with the four winds. This is accomplished by briefly pausing in four directions during the dance and raising your eagle or hawk wing fan to summon good winds and good fortune to the singers.
